Barry, aka"Barry-Sean"as his Irish grandmother used to call him, was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. As the child of Irish/Scottish immigrants, he shares his lighthearted look at the world through the lens of someone who was “Almost Irish.” In a family where you had to sing a song, tell a story, or step out a quick Irish Dance for your dinner, Barry was left with a deep well of characters (not to mention a love for free food) from which he now draws, as he shares tall tales of the constant influx of colorful relatives who would visit his childhood home, mixed with the cast of characters that lived on his ethnically diverse “Block” in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. 

Why comedy?

Barry grew up (well kinda) acting and singing in the Big Apple, and spent many hours listening to comedians and showmen, but it wasn't until many years later, after "God cleaned up his act," that he met Comedian Tim Hawkins in 2009 in Tyler, TX. Tim inspired Barry, and encouraged him to pursue a comedy career, and to join the CCA (Christian Comedy Association), which he did. Now look what you've gone and done Tim!​​

Barry brings his special brand of clean comedy, music, and motivational speaking primarily to medical association meetings and corporate events, as well as churches, community events, and anyone else who needs a light hearted look at themselves and others, and a reminder that we are made and equipped to

DO GREAT THINGS! 

Whether Barry McKenna is sharing a life story, impersonating quirky relatives, or singing one of his hilarious songs, you will laugh (and probably sing) along, as you and your association members, employees, fund raising team, sales or management group, congregation - Everyone!, renew their hope, and sense of purpose, while setting valuable, attainable goals.  Barry shares his healing and recovery at the hand of a loving God. All of this is done in a unique and clean way that is fun, safe, and entertaining for everyone!
After completing Basic Training at Ft. Dix, NJ, in the US Army Reserves, Barry trained at The Academy of Health Sciences in Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX in 1985, where he was trained as both a Medic, and Dental Assistant. What a combo! Check the Airway, Stop the Bleeding, and... FLOSS!

Barry continued medical studies in his civilian life, pursuing a degree in nursing, before turning to medical sales.

For over two decades Barry sold medical devices and equipment to both the Human and                     Veterinary 
markets, and was both salesman and trainer to the doctors, and their staff, all the while singing, acting, and telling funny tales along the way! Heck, it's where he got half, well most, OK a lot, of his material!
​Doctors are funny So are their staff. Patients are funnier!  
 just watch em sometime!

Barry is not only a proud member of the CCA (Christian Comedy Association) but also an Ordained Christian Minister. 
He and his wife, Kandis, have been involved in ministry together for over 6 years.

The heart of their ministy is the family, and helping those struggling with addictions, and from abuse. When he is not officiating weddings and funerals, he is preaching or performing at churches throughout the US and Canada, and hopes to do so in Europe and Australia
​very soon!
It is Barry's desire that no church will ever be denied his services because of size or budget.
