EVER HAD A TERRIBLE MEETING?
What’s worse than sitting in THE meeting where everyone’s so bored that they’d rather be expressing the infected anal glands of an obese, geriatric Chihuahua?
What’s worse is being the one who planned that meeting!
I remember one when there were 300 people listening... to the others around them groan.
And this, a keynote award speech that was supposed to get people fired up.
They got fired up all right. Two years later, people were still heated.
I wondered if the planner thought about how others felt.
Maybe she was trying to cut corners? I don’t know.
But at what cost?
I know for a fact that the attendees felt disrespected. I was one of them.
I was an exhibitor, invited by a doctor to attend. I saw the looks of exasperation on the faces of every vet and their families as they dragged out of that ballroom.
I raced over to my booth. In vain.
The few that bothered to walk the exhibits, looked like zombies -- and bought like zombies!
One doctor who was ready to buy just 4 hours earlier had lost all interest.
“I’ll see you next year,” I lamented.
His response: “Not putting myself through that again. I’ll get my C.E. online.”
That same sentiment seemed to color all events that weekend.
At breakdown, I revealed to my boss how my prospect wasn’t coming back. He said, “Neither are we.”
WARNING: I’m about to toot…. my horn.
I won’t let THAT happen to your meeting. I’ll entertain and encourage your attendees. .
I seem to have been born with a knack for making people feel special (and I’m not just talking about my little brother who could drink milk through his nose, although that was special. Tried that? Yikes!).
In a room full of veterinary professionals and their families, we have fun and lots of it.
Still, they leave with more than a cheap belly laugh; they actually feel understood.
For over nine years, I sold veterinary medical equipment, visiting and training practices across the Fruited Plain... (and Canada).
I get them (still working on the Canadians. They got a cool flag and national anthem.)
Veterinarians are entrepreneurs, and they care.
Always walking that fine line between helping and making a living.
According to Psychology Today, being understood is the deepest hunger of the human heart (although I really like cheeseburgers - heart healthy, of course). Steven Covey author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effectively People said that it’s important for people to know “You matter to me, I find you of value, I care for and respect you.”
And I do. I actually do.
I validate them. I truly respect them. Many, many are my friends… Even one Canadian!
Okay half.
...On his mom’s side.
They’ll have a great time and feel encouraged.
You’ll relax and have a great family friendly show.
Vets, techs, and family alike will want to come back again (with friends).
They will feel good and so will you.

"I just wanted to extend my own strong personal recommendation for Barry! Having seen many good and not-so-good entertainers in front of the CVMA and other veterinary groups, I can definitely vouch for Barry’s presentation, professionalism, and hilarity. There’s really no substitute for laughter when it comes to making people feel good and relax, so I think comedy is the ideal elixir to get veterinarians to unwind and let go. Barry is especially great for DVMs because he has worked within the industry for such a long time that he knows our business and gets our unique world view. " |
“Barry has an incredible energy level and is able to get the audience fired up when he takes the stage....HE IS A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH and is willing to allow himself to be vulnerable, engaging and entertaining all at once.” SUZETTE TEAGUE,REAL ESTATE BROKER GRI,ABR,CNHS,LUXURY HOMES, DALLAS - FORT WORTH, TEXAS

What works for you?
From a 30 minute one-man show to a multi-comic showcase, I work with your schedule and needs. Shows are interactive and musical. Each one is different, so let’s talk.
And call quick… (my wife’s on the other line - honey-do time). My calendar fills up fast this time of year.
By the way, I am offering 2 discounts right now.
First, I am working on some new material. Let me try it out for part of the show (about 3 to 5 minutes), and I’ll give you a sizable discount (don’t worry, it’s all family fun).
Ask me about the second discount.
It goes away after the first three callers take advantage of it.
Call me today - (936) 414 - 8664. Now that’s doin’ something smart with your smartphone!
Sincerely,
Barry S. McKenna, CMDN
P.S. Call me about that 2nd discount. It’s unusual.
P.P.S. I do fundraising events and talent shows too.
